About IP Telephony and iptel2002 Workshop

Internet telephony has been gaining momentum in the last years. Lots of research and development efforts have been aiming at provisioning voice services over the Internet and merging them with Internet services. Internet telephony is expected to enable a new generation of telecommunication services and to reduce costs by having a single infrastructure for both data and voice.

The objectives of the IP Telephony Workshop are to bring together researchers, developers, vendors and service providers and stimulate discussion on innovation, research, deployment experiences and future directions. Technical topics include but are not limited to integration with Internet services, added-value services, mobility, 3rd generation wireless, AAA, charging, QoS support, security, call signaling and processing, supporting services, audio/video encoding and transmission, management and provisioning, interworking with the PSTN, design and deployment considerations, etc.
